[dataset] Crop Suitable Area

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations developed in collaboration with the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis an Agro-Ecological Zones system. It enables rational land-use planning of the basis of an inventory of land resources and an evaluation of their biophysical limitations and potentials for crop production. The characterization of land is based on all relevant components of climate, soils and landform, which are important for the supply of water, energy, nutrients and physical support to plants.
